Dear Brother and Sister Elks,
This is an update on my previous letter. It has finally happened. The committee has been firefighting trying to find a host lodge and community to host this year’s event. I appreciate Hanna #451 and then Stettler #92 attempts on short notice to pull something together. Unfortunately, it is not meant to be. Due to a hotel room shortage in Stettler, we are forced to cancel the event for this year. This is what happens when we do not have early commitment from prospective hosts.
The good news, we already have a host lodge and community for the 2020 event. I would like to thank Sherwood Park #481 for submitting their application.
I apologize to everyone that was planning on attending this year’s event. Hopefully, I will see you in 2020.
If you have any questions, please contact Brother Ken Lengyel at 403-540-3926, or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.

Dear Brother and Sister Elks,
Join us on November 27th, 2018 for Giving Tuesday and help make a difference!
Each year the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children donates over $500,000 to families in need and provincial programs that support kids in need of speech and hearing therapy. We raise this money each year not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because it feels good to do it.
This year, we are inviting you to feel good too. You have a chance to help us raise $5,000.00 or more and give not only you the chance to feel like you’ve made a difference, but allow your friends and family that chance too by setting up your own personal fundraising page. Whether you are regular donor, someone who is new to the Fund for Children, or someone who is paying forward the help that the Fund for Children has given you and your family, every donation helps us help someone in need.
We invite you to make a donation and help make a difference. Let’s give others the chance to feel that amazing feeling we experience when we make a difference in a child’s life!

The curling event will be held in Red Deer and the Baymont Inn and Convention Centre is a 2 minute walk to the Curling rink. The Hotel has offered a $99 per night room rate and this includes a morning buffet breakfast. Taxes are about $9. They have blocked off 60 rooms for our event. Should be fun having all the curlers at one site.
There will be transportation around the City and to any afternoon or evening events should you require these services. The Elks Club is located about 10 minutes from the downtown curling and accommodation sites.
The National Curling Championship Committee urges all Lodges across Canada to consider sending a team or individual curlers to this event. The committee will do its best to accommodate individual entries by placing them on a team. The goal of this event is to promote Elkdom, please seriously consider participating. Some funds are available from Grand Lodge to assist members travelling long distances to defray travel cost. These funds are being made available through the sale of the Sports Pins
